The inspiration for this ring came from observing how people choose jewelry for everyday life.

The idea was inspired by a simple fastening principle found in buttons and other removable fittings: a narrow connector passes through an opening, while a wider retaining end helps keep it in position. Instead of permanently bonding a metal decoration to the silicone surface, the design uses the natural flexibility of silicone as part of the fastening system.
This approach allowed us to combine two materials with very different characteristics:

How the Removable Plate Works
The fastening system can be understood as a button-like connection with three main sections:
During installation, the silicone around the opening stretches temporarily as the wider retaining end is carefully guided through it. Once the retaining end has passed through, the silicone returns toward its original shape and closes around the narrower connecting stem.
The stainless steel plate remains on the outside of the ring, while the wider retaining end rests on the inside. These two ends hold the silicone band between them, helping the personalized centerpiece remain in place.
The principle is simple:
The silicone stretches to allow the wider end to pass through, then returns around the narrower stem to help secure the plate.
This is why silicone is essential to the design. A rigid ring material would require threads, hinges, screws, or other mechanical hardware. Flexible silicone can temporarily change shape during installation and removal, then recover after the connector is in position.
How the Plate Is Removed
To remove the plate, the silicone near the opening is gently flexed to create enough space for the wider retaining end to pass back through.
The plate should not be forcefully pulled straight away from the ring. Instead, the wearer should support the silicone around the opening and carefully guide the retaining end through one side at a time. This reduces unnecessary stretching around the attachment point.
After removal, the stainless steel plate and silicone band can be cleaned separately. The removable construction also makes the relationship between the two materials visible: the metal centerpiece provides structure and personalization, while the silicone band supplies both comfort and the flexibility required for assembly.
Why We Chose This Structure
A permanently attached metal plate would have created a simpler product, but it would not have offered the same flexibility.
